Problem Solver Wood Cleaner

Semi-Solid Deck & Siding Stain

Cabot® Express Deck™ Wood Stain allows you to clean and stain your deck in the same day. Most stains require the wood to be completely dry before applying. Express Deck is formulated for application on damp wood so you can begin to stain immediately after cleaning and completely stain your wood in one day. Be sure to clean your wood thoroughly before applying this product. Do not apply the stain for wood if puddles are present.

This semi-transparent flat finish stain covers approximately 250-350 sq. ft. per gallon (23-33 m2) on smooth wood; approximately 100-200 sq. ft./gal (30-60 m2) on rough wood.

Where to Use

Use Cabot's one day stain on exterior wood decks, siding, fences, railings and steps.

Preparing Your Wood Surfaces

Be sure surface is free of all dirt, mildew stains and loose wood fibers and other foreign matter. In order to be effective, a stain must be able to penetrate. Surfaces must be sound and may be dry or damp. If damp, the wood should be free of puddles and not feel wet. Prepare previously stained or weathered surfaces with Cabot Problem Solver® Wood Cleaner, Wood Brightener or Wood Stripper. On untreated weather surfaces, scrubbing with a stiff bristle brush or sanding may be required to completely remove all loose wood fibers.

Mildew: Any mildew stains present on the surface prior to staining should be removed with Cabot Problem Solver Wood Cleaner. Mildew stains are not caused by the coating, nor does it represent coating failure. This product contains agents that inhibit the growth of mildew on the coating's film.

Extractive bleeding: Extractive bleeding is not caused by the coating, nor is it a coating failure. To remove discoloration caused by extractive bleeding, use Cabot Problem Solver Wood Brightener. Follow directions on label.

NOTE: The appearance of the finish will vary depending on the porosity of the wood surface. To ensure desired appearance and proper drying time, always finish a small test area before proceeding.

Do not over apply. Shake and stir thoroughly before and during use. If project requires more than one container, blend all containers together to ensure uniformity. Apply with nylon or polyester brushes or professional spray equipment. When spraying, always back-brush immediately. Apply to small sections at a time, start at one edge and follow through to the end of the boards to avoid lap marks. Apply one coat only. Clean brushes and equipment with soap and water.

Cleanup and Disposal

Clean brushes and equipment with mineral spirits. Dispose of empty cans or unused portion in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Close container when not in use. Soak oily rags, lambswool, steel wool, cloths or any other material in water after use to avoid spontaneous combustion. Danger: Rags, steel wood or waste soaked with this product may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Immediately after each use, place rags, steel wool or waste in a sealed, water-filled metal container. Dispose of according to local regulations.
