Where to Use

For use on bare or previously varnished interior wood including doors, woodwork, furniture and cabinets.

Preparing Your Surfaces

General: Clean and dry surface thoroughly, removing all dirt, dust, wax and wood marks. Remove gloss with sandpaper or liquid gloss remover. Do not apply over lacquer or shellac.
New or Stained Wood: Sand until a smooth finish is obtained. Remove sanding dust and dirt from the surface. Make sure to clean all the cracks between the wood. Remove all sanding dust before applying.
Painted or Varnished Wood: Clean the surface thoroughly to remove all traces of dirt, wax, oil or grease. Because previous color of paint or varnish will show through the finish, test first on a hidden piece of wood to be sure the final effect is satisfactory. If not satisfied, remove all paint and varnish with sandpaper or paint and varnish remover following manufacturer's instructions and safety precautions. Then follow new wood instructions.

DO NOT SHAKE! Stir well before and frequently during use. Intermix containers of the same color. Before staining entire surface, always check color by applying stain to an extra piece of the same wood. Apply a uniform coat using a polyester brush. Be careful not to overwork the finish or create foam when applying. After the first coat has dried, sand lightly with fine grade sandpaper. Remove all sanding dust and apply second coat. Additional coats of PolyStain will result in darker color. If only one coat of PolyStain is used or additional surface protection is desired without deepening color, apply 1-2 coats of Cabot Water-Borne Polyurethane.
